The story of the SABATIER brand, as follows, is based on the brands registered and the awards made in France under the name SABATIER. The original knife was so successful that it was copied many times over in France and abroad. The SABATIER knife was born in the Thiers neighbourhood at the beginning of the 19th century. It is a professional knife for cooks and butchers and actually bears the name of a family from Thiers. But which family? The family of Jean SABATIER from Le Moûtier or of Philippe SABATIER from Bellevue? The question remains open, even if official bodies today tend to favour the Le Moûtier origin. Although they are closely associated in the SABATIER knife story, these two families with the same name nevertheless do not appear to be related in any way.
